Native American Indian Legend of the Moon
A Native American Indian Legend shares the story about an Indian village which was located near where the Moon usually sets, and it was there where they held the Moon. There were others who were trying to steal the moon from them and put it back into the sky. The Indians knew that these people wanted to steal the moon, therefore they plotted to kill them. There were two antelopes that decided to steal the Moon, because they knew that they could outrun the Indians. So the antelope snuck-up on the Indians and stole the Moon. The antelopes ran so fast that the Indians weren't able to catch them. These antelopes ran for a very long time until they were too tired to go any further. Then they stopped at the next Indian village and rested the Moon outside of a teepee while they went inside.
A very sneaky man named Coyote, saw the Moon and thought he could steal it without the antelopes hearing him. Coyote, crept up very quietly to the teepee and grabbed the Moon and ran away as fast as he could. The antelopes heard him and started after him. To no avail the antelopes could not catch up to the Coyote because of his head start. Coyote was headed towards the lake, and when he got there, as far as he could throw, he threw the Moon right into the lake, and it still lies there today.
